President TRUMP speaks with President XI on the phone

Tuesday, November 25, 2025 -
President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a high-level phone call Monday, signaling a renewed focus on trade, global security, and bilateral cooperation.

The conversation touched on U.S.–China trade, including agricultural exports, and addressed pressing issues like the Ukraine war and the fentanyl crisis, highlighting areas of shared concern and potential collaboration.

Taiwan dominated part of the discussion, with Xi emphasizing that its “return” to China is a key element of the post-war international order. While the call maintained a positive tone, underscoring a willingness to engage, it also revealed persistent tensions on territorial and security issues.

Both leaders framed the discussion as a step toward stabilizing relations following recent diplomatic interactions.

Trump also accepted Xi’s invitation for a state visit to Beijing in April, while extending a reciprocal invitation to Xi for a U.S. visit next year.

Analysts say these planned visits and ongoing dialogue signal a deliberate effort to de-escalate tensions and open channels for negotiation on trade, security, and regional stability, setting the stage for potentially significant shifts in U.S.–China relations.
