Single faulty wire led cargo ship to crash into Baltimore bridge

Wednesday, November 19, 2025-A single faulty wire was identified as the cause of a cargo ship crashing into a bridge in Baltimore, officials confirmed. 

The collision led to major traffic disruptions and prompted immediate inspections of both the ship and the bridge to ensure public safety. Authorities emphasized that the incident could have been far more serious if it had occurred during peak traffic hours.

Investigators reported that the malfunction affected the ship’s navigation system, preventing the vessel from maneuvering correctly as it approached the bridge. 

While no serious injuries were reported, minor damage occurred to both the ship and the surrounding infrastructure. Shipping schedules were also temporarily disrupted as authorities cleared the area and assessed the situation.

The crash has raised concerns about maritime safety protocols and equipment maintenance, highlighting the need for stricter checks on critical ship systems.
