Friday, November 21, 2025 -A fresh wave of heavy rain is battering Southern California, triggering flash flood warnings, storm-drain overflow, and even the possibility of a tornado. The National Weather Service has issued alerts for areas stretching from downtown Los Angeles to Orange County, as Doppler radar shows intense rainfall bands that may rotate — raising the risk of small tornadoes, especially between Pasadena and the L.A./Orange County line.
In Orange County’s Dana Point Harbor, wind reports suggest a waterspout may have come onshore, tossing a 12-foot section of chain-link fence 70 feet across a parking lot. Meanwhile, Westminster saw nearly 1.84 inches of rain in just one hour, flooding streets and overwhelming drainage systems. Huntington Beach was also hit hard: pond overflow spilled water into a neighborhood, submerging parked cars and cutting off roads.
The peril isn’t just in coastal areas. Mountain regions are facing winter storm conditions too, with snow piling up above 6,500 feet and road closures being reported in the San Bernardino range. Flash flood warnings remain in place for downtown L.A., the South Bay, and the San Gabriel Valley, with forecasters warning of possible “semi-wet Santa Ana” conditions later, which could worsen impacts. Residents are being urged to stay alert, avoid driving through flooded zones, and prepare for more rain into the weekend.
