Friday, November 7, 2025 -In a tragic turn of events, Hadi Rezaei, an inmate from Kuhdasht in Lorestan Province, succumbed to suicide within the confines of Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. The circumstances surrounding his demise reveal that Rezaei ingested narcotic substances, leading to his untimely passing.
Information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that Rezaei’s life ended on Thursday, November 6, 2025, following the ingestion of methamphetamine within the prison’s walls. Prior to his death, Rezaei had attempted suicide the previous day in Ward 3 of Ghezel Hesar Prison, prompting his transfer to a medical facility.
However, despite the medical attention, Rezaei succumbed to his condition. Rezaei’s arrest occurred three years prior to his death on charges of “armed robbery.” Subsequently, he was sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
