4 more arrested in $102M Louvre jewel heist, Paris prosecutor says

Wednesday, November 26, 2025 -
Paris prosecutors announced that four more people have been arrested in connection with the dramatic heist at the Louvre in October, in which thieves made off with an estimated $102 million worth of jewels.

The new detainees — two men and two women, all aged between 31 and 40 and from the Paris region — are now being questioned under the authority of the prosecutor overseeing the investigation. Officials have not yet confirmed the specific roles these four are suspected of playing in the robbery.

The stolen items remain unrecovered. Among the missing treasures are a diamond-and-emerald necklace once gifted by Napoleon I to his second wife and a tiara and other historic pieces linked to 19th-century French royalty. Officials say the thieves carried out the heist in under eight minutes: they used a freight lift to access the museum’s upper floor, smashed display cases with power tools, and escaped via scooters.

The arrests come amid growing scrutiny over security at the Louvre and broader concerns about protecting cultural heritage. While investigators continue to piece together how the robbery was executed so swiftly, public pressure mounts for the jewels to be recovered — and for museum protocols to be thoroughly reviewed to prevent a repeat.
