Monday, October 20, 2025 - South African DJ and record producer, Black Coffee, has made it clear that marriage is no longer part of his plans.
The Grammy-winning DJ, who is a father of four, said he has
reached a point in his life where he fully understands himself and will no
longer allow societal pressure to dictate his choices.
Speaking on a recent episode of Podcast and Chill,
Black Coffee shared that his parents had once pressured him to get married
after he became successful.
“I won’t get married again. I’m clear about that because I’m
now in a better space in understanding who I am. I also understand the kind of
pressure society puts you in without ever backing you up,” he said.
He went on to explain how expectations changed once his
career took off.
“With my career, it wasn’t so obvious. I wasn’t going to get
a degree and become a lawyer, so it was unclear. But as soon as it popped,
everyone was wowed. I bought my first house and car, and they [my parents] were
like, ‘When are you getting a wife?’”
Black Coffee added that society had influenced many of his
life decisions until he finally learned to draw his own boundaries. He said
remaining single is now a conscious choice that allows him to focus on his
peace and his craft.
The DJ was previously married to South African actress Enhle
Mbali Mlotshwa, but they went their separate ways in 2019 following an
infidelity scandal.
Their union produced two children, while Black Coffee has
two other children from previous relationships.
