Tuesday, September 23, 2025 -World leaders have gathered in New York for the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, meeting at a time marked by wars in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan alongside mounting global crises.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned that international cooperation is “straining under pressures unseen in our lifetimes,” citing challenges such as climate change, artificial intelligence, widening inequality, and humanitarian emergencies.
The assembly is expected to focus heavily on the Israel-Palestine conflict, with debate over a UN report accusing Israel of genocide and renewed momentum for a two-state solution. Leaders will also address UN reform, food insecurity, and global efforts to manage technology and climate threats.
