House oversight panel releases EPSTEIN files amid rising pressure

Wednesday, September 3, 2025 -A major document release has reignited public scrutiny of Jeffrey Epstein’s case, as the House Oversight Committee published more than 33,000 pages tied to the disgraced financier.

The files include victim interviews, redacted court records, and surveillance footage, alongside flight logs that have long fueled speculation about powerful figures linked to Epstein. While the release is substantial, many of the documents were previously accessible, leaving critics questioning the timing and motives behind the move.

Reaction on Capitol Hill was divided. Democrats accused the panel of repackaging old material instead of delivering true transparency, noting that the majority of the files had already been in circulation.

Still, some lawmakers praised the effort, arguing that making the information more widely available strengthens accountability. Survivors and advocacy groups echoed those calls, pushing for a full disclosure that protects identities while exposing systemic failures that allowed Epstein’s crimes to continue for years.

The Oversight Committee insists this is only the first step, hinting at additional records that could include financial documents and communications from Epstein’s estate. Pressure is mounting for a comprehensive release that leaves no unanswered questions about Epstein’s network and the institutions that enabled him.

As more files are expected, the debate underscores the public’s demand for accountability and a deeper reckoning with one of the most controversial scandals of recent decades.
