Friday, 25 February 2022 – A rogue police officer has been arrested after being linked to the theft of Ksh 2.2 Million at Thika Road Mall in Nairobi.
The cop, identified as Geoffrey Korir Kiplagat, was nabbed by detectives from the Special Crimes Unit at Allsops, Nairobi after he was positively identified by a businessman, whom he ambushed and robbed him of the money.
The victim, Daniel Owiri Nyagaka, had gone to purchase a power saw from his friend when he was confronted by Kiplagat and three other men at Thika Road Mall Gate H.
The four were posing as police officers and armed with a pistol.
They handcuffed him alongside his friend and ransacked his vehicle, before making away with Sh 2.2 Million and two HP laptops valued at Sh 134,000.
Kiplagat was arrested at his home in Allsops along Thika Road after detectives carried out investigations.
Detectives recovered a Ceska pistol believed to have been used during the robbery incident, 15 rounds of ammunition, a jungle trouser, a red beret, and a badge.
