Tuesday, November 3, 2026 - The Great British Bake Off has said goodbye to its seventh contestant after Gary, a 67-year-old retired garment technologist, was eliminated during Tuesday night's challenging Free From Party Week.
Gary's departure on November 3, 2026, came after the bakers struggled to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson with creations made without traditional ingredients such as gluten, dairy or animal products.
While the remaining contestants fought to secure their places in the competition, Gary's performance ultimately fell short, bringing his memorable journey in the famous tent to an end.
The episode proved particularly challenging as contestants were required to demonstrate creativity while maintaining flavour and presentation. At the end of the challenges, Noel Fielding announced Gabe as Star Baker, while Alison Hammond delivered the disappointing news to Gary.
Despite his elimination, Gary remained positive and revealed that he was proud of making it much further than he initially expected. He had originally hoped to reach only the third week.
Paul Hollywood also shared an emotional moment with the departing contestant, joking that he would miss his doppelganger because of their similar appearances and habit of wearing matching shirt colours. Gary described his experience on the programme as one of the best of his life.
Gary's departure means the competition is entering an increasingly intense stage, with the remaining bakers facing greater pressure as the quarter-finals approach. His elimination has also highlighted how unpredictable the competition can become when contestants are pushed beyond their usual baking techniques.
With Gabe celebrating Star Baker and the remaining hopefuls determined to avoid the next elimination, viewers have plenty to look forward to in the coming episodes. The Great British Bake Off continues next Tuesday, November 10, at 8pm on Channel 4, as the race towards the 2026 final gathers momentum.
