CHRISTY CARLSON ROMANO doesn't want daughters to become child stars like her

Wednesday, October 7, 2026 - Christy Carlson Romano has made it clear that she does not want her two daughters, Isabella and Sofia, to follow the same path she took as a child star.

The former Disney Channel actress, who began working in entertainment at just six, says she and her husband Brendan Rooney would support their daughters if they developed an interest in the arts, but would not push them toward professional acting.

Romano says her own experience growing up in Hollywood has shaped the decision. In her new memoir, Once Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star, she reflects on the pressures surrounding her early career and argues that young performers need stronger protection.

She has called for safeguards such as social workers on sets and dedicated advocates to ensure children have adults focused on their wellbeing.

For Romano, the priority is giving her daughters room to enjoy creativity without turning it into a career too early. She says any involvement in the arts would need to start small rather than immediately entering auditions and professional casting.

After experiencing the demands of child stardom herself, the actress is now choosing a very different path for the next generation of her family.
