Sunday, September 20, 2026 - Thousands of protesters gathered outside the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., forming a human chain around the arts venue in opposition to President Donald Trump’s leadership of the institution and proposed changes to its future.
The “Hands Around the Kennedy Center” demonstration brought together demonstrators carrying signs and chanting as the cultural landmark remained closed for renovations.
The protest comes amid continuing controversy over changes at the Kennedy Center since Trump took control of the institution.
