Tuesday, September 22, 2026 - Patrick Clancy has publicly explained why he chose to forgive his former wife, Lindsay Clancy, after she was accused of killing their three children in Massachusetts.
In his first televised interview since the murder trial ended in a mistrial, Patrick said he believes severe mental illness played a central role in what happened. He said holding onto anger would have consumed him, adding that he wanted to focus on remembering his children rather than allowing the tragedy to define their legacy.
The case remains unresolved after a jury deadlocked earlier this month. Eleven of the 12 jurors reportedly supported the defense position that Clancy was not criminally responsible because she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, while one juror disagreed, resulting in the September 4 mistrial.
Patrick also described the devastating aftermath, including the death of his eight-month-old son Callan four days after the January 2023 attack and the severe emotional impact the tragedy had on him.
Patrick's decision to forgive has now placed renewed attention on perinatal mental health and the challenges families can face when serious postpartum illness develops.
He also criticized online conspiracy theories surrounding the case, saying they have harmed the memory of his children and distracted from the broader mental-health discussion. Whether Lindsay Clancy will face another trial remains undecided, with the case scheduled to return to court on September 29.
