Saturday, September 19, 2026 - Katie Price’s planned divorce from Lee Andrews has hit a legal obstacle after the couple’s eight-month marriage came to an end. Price confirmed the split this week, while Andrews, who is currently detained in Dubai, reportedly agreed that divorce was “probably for the best.”
However, family-law experts say the former couple cannot normally begin divorce proceedings in England and Wales until they have been married for 12 months, meaning Price may have to wait several more months before formally applying.
The situation has been complicated further by a disputed £37 million fortune. Price said she investigated a cryptocurrency account that Andrews allegedly claimed contained £37 million but found only about £2.20. Andrews disputes her account, saying she checked the wrong wallet and maintaining that he is a multimillionaire.
If financial proceedings follow, lawyers say both sides would generally have to disclose their finances, meaning claims about property, investments, businesses, debts and cryptocurrency holdings could be examined rather than simply accepted.
Even after Price becomes eligible to apply for divorce, the process will not be immediate. Lawyers cited by Metro say there is ordinarily a minimum 20-week period before a conditional order and a further minimum 43 days before the final order. Andrews’ detention overseas could also create practical complications involving communication and legal documents.
For now, Price can use the waiting period to obtain specialist legal advice and establish a clear picture of the finances involved while the £37 million claim remains disputed.
