Monday, September 28, 2026 - British police have arrested five men near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire after receiving a report about three suspicious vehicles apparently travelling toward the U.S.-used air base.
The arrests took place early Sunday, September 27, after armed officers responded to the alert in the nearby Whelford area. The men were initially detained under the U.K. Explosives Act and were later arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act.
The incident triggered a major security operation, with Army explosive-ordnance specialists examining the three vehicles inside a 400-metre cordon. About 85 households in the surrounding area were evacuated as a precaution while bomb-disposal teams investigated the vehicles.
