Sunday, September 20, 2026 - Billie Lourd has revealed the special connection she shares with her Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story co-star Ella Beatty, and it goes back to their famous parents.
Lourd, the daughter of the late Carrie Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd, stars opposite Beatty, the daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, in the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix anthology series.
The two actresses play sisters Emma and Lizzie Borden, and Lourd says their shared Hollywood upbringing helped create an immediate bond between them.
The connection goes even deeper because Carrie Fisher’s first film role was alongside Warren Beatty in the 1975 movie Shampoo. Lourd said she and Beatty often joke about the link and described it as particularly meaningful because Fisher is no longer alive.
Through Beatty, Lourd is also able to hear stories from Warren Beatty about her mother, giving her a rare connection to her mother’s early career and a different perspective on Fisher’s life.
Lourd and Beatty have quickly developed a close relationship while working on Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, which premiered on Netflix on September 17. Lourd has praised Beatty as warm, talented and magnetic, while Beatty has acknowledged the advantages and exposure that come with having famous parents.
Their connection has added another personal layer to their portrayal of the Borden sisters, with both actresses drawing on experiences of growing up around major Hollywood figures while establishing careers of their own.
