Sunday, August 30, 2026 - Taylor Swift has stepped in with a $50,000 donation to help Ashley Taunton, a Connecticut mother of three who suffered severe injuries after being hit by a car while trying to help teenagers following an accident in Rhode Island.
Swift donated to a GoFundMe campaign supporting Taunton and her family, adding a personal message wishing her a strong recovery.
Taunton was driving on I-95 during a rainstorm in July when she stopped after seeing teenagers involved in a crash. As another vehicle lost control on the wet road, Taunton pushed one teenager out of danger before she was struck herself.
She suffered multiple serious injuries, including internal bleeding, fractured ribs, liver and spleen injuries, and a ruptured diaphragm. Her recovery is expected to require extensive treatment and physical therapy.
Swift's donation gives the family an important boost as medical bills, household costs and travel expenses continue to build. The fundraiser had already surpassed $64,000 before Swift's contribution, while a separate Meal Train campaign had raised more than $16,000.
The story is quickly drawing attention not only to Swift's generosity but also to Taunton's extraordinary decision to risk her own life to save someone else.
