Thursday, August 27, 2026 -Scottish podcaster James English has been found guilty of domestic abuse against his former partner following a 12-day trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
English, 43, was convicted after the court found six of 19 allegations proven, including incidents involving physical violence and abuse while the woman was pregnant. The court heard that the abuse took place between July 2022 and November 2023 at locations including English’s Glasgow flat.
The allegations included kicking his former partner off a bed, grabbing her by the neck, pinning her against a door, pulling her hair and slapping her face. The court also heard evidence about threatening and degrading messages.
English denied the allegations, while his defence challenged the lack of photographs and the precision of some dates. Sheriff David Hall ultimately found the woman’s evidence credible and reliable and convicted English on the proven parts of the charge.
The conviction is likely to put renewed focus on English’s public profile, including his Anything Goes podcast and his interviews with controversial figures such as Daniel Kinahan. English had previously said he planned to release a lengthy interview with Kinahan recorded while Kinahan was in an Al Awir prison in Dubai awaiting extradition to Ireland.
English was not in court for the verdict because he was out of the country, and sentencing has been deferred while background reports are prepared; he remains on bail.
