Thursday, August 27, 2026 -Kanye West, now known as Ye, made a surprise appearance at Lil Durk’s federal murder-for-hire trial in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 27, showing his support for the Chicago rapper as the high-profile case continues. Ye was seen leaving the courthouse and holding up a “Free Durk” shirt, making his position clear as the trial drew intense attention from the hip-hop community.
Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, is accused by federal prosecutors of orchestrating a 2022 attack targeting rapper Quando Rondo in retaliation for the killing of Durk’s friend King Von.
The shooting instead resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. Durk has pleaded not guilty and maintains his innocence, while his defense has challenged the prosecution’s case and questioned the credibility of key witnesses.
Ye’s courtroom appearance adds another major celebrity moment to a trial already attracting significant attention across the music world.
The two artists have collaborated previously, including on the 2023 Vultures project, and Ye has now publicly joined other musicians who have shown support for Durk during the proceedings. As testimony continues, the case remains one of the most closely watched legal battles involving a major hip-hop artist this year.
