Sunday, August 9, 2026 - Israeli forces killed one Palestinian and wounded nine others, including four children, in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, according to medical sources.
A young Palestinian man was killed after Israeli forces opened fire in Deir al-Balah, while seven people, including two children, were injured by heavy fire near the al-Shakoush area southwest of Khan Younis. Two more children were wounded after gunfire was directed toward homes and tents sheltering displaced families in Gaza City.
The latest casualties come amid continued reports of violence despite the October 10 ceasefire agreement. Medical sources said three of those wounded near Khan Younis were in critical condition, adding to concerns over the safety of civilians living in heavily damaged and overcrowded areas.
Drone and artillery fire was also reported around Bureij and Maghazi, although no additional casualties were immediately confirmed from those incidents.
The renewed violence is putting further pressure on an already fragile ceasefire and raising urgent concerns for displaced families, particularly children. Gaza’s Health Ministry said that, since the ceasefire began, Israeli violations have killed 1,257 Palestinians and wounded 4,131 others.
With attacks continuing across several parts of the enclave, the latest deaths and injuries underscore how quickly the security situation can deteriorate despite the ceasefire framework.
