Rock band Alkaline Trio cancels tour just hours before going on stage as frontman MATT SKIBA faces health crisis

Friday, June 3, 2026- Punk rock band Alkaline Trio have abruptly cancelled their tour just hours before they were due to take the stage, after frontman Matt Skiba’s health condition reportedly worsened rapidly.
The decision affects multiple UK dates, including a last-minute cancellation in Birmingham, with the band issuing an urgent statement apologising to fans and confirming that Skiba required immediate medical attention.
Skiba has been experiencing serious medical issues during the run of shows, with symptoms including voice loss and difficulty walking, prompting concern from both the band and touring crew. In a video message recorded before the cancellation, he told fans he was struggling to speak, move, and perform, and that doctors had advised him to stop touring and return home for treatment.
The band emphasised that the decision was made to prioritise Skiba’s recovery, with refunds being issued for cancelled shows and promises to reschedule when he is well enough to return.
While no detailed diagnosis has been publicly confirmed, the sudden nature of the cancellation has sparked concern across the punk and alternative rock community, with fans flooding social media with messages of support and urgency for his recovery.
