Wednesday, July 15, 2026- Welsh literature is celebrating two major victories as Anthony Shapland and Mererid Hopwood have been named overall winners of the Wales Book of the Year 2026 awards.
Shapland’s debut novel A Room Above a Shop secured the English-language prize, while Hopwood’s poetry collection Mae won the Welsh-language award, highlighting the strength and diversity of contemporary writing from Wales.
