Spanish government invests massive €40m in two international production companies, Ítaca Films Madrid and Good Films Studios Spain

Thursday, June 25, 2026-Spain has announced a major €40 million investment aimed at strengthening its position as a global hub for film and television production.

The funding will support two international production companies, Ítaca Films Madrid and Good Films Studios Spain, as part of a broader strategy to expand the country’s creative economy and attract high-value media projects. The move reflects Spain’s growing ambition to compete with leading production centers across Europe and North America.

The investment is expected to accelerate studio development, increase international co-productions, and create new opportunities for local talent in film, post-production, and digital content creation.

Government officials have emphasized that the initiative is designed to boost employment in the creative sector while also positioning Spain as a preferred destination for streaming platforms and global studios seeking cost-effective, high-quality production environments. The funding also aligns with broader EU efforts to strengthen cultural industries and digital media competitiveness.

Industry analysts say the injection of capital could significantly reshape Spain’s entertainment landscape, attracting more blockbuster productions and long-term infrastructure investment.

With rising global demand for content from platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+, Spain is positioning itself as a strategic production base in Europe. The success of Ítaca Films Madrid and Good Films Studios Spain will likely play a key role in determining how effectively the country captures future growth in the global entertainment market.
