Kingfishr member announces he is taking a step back from touring

Tuesday, June 30, 2026- A member of Irish indie-folk band Kingfishr has announced he is stepping back from touring, citing the pressures of the group’s rapid rise and demanding live schedule.

Eoin “Fitz” Fitzgibbon, the band’s guitarist and backing vocalist, said the decision comes after an intense period of touring and performances that has “caught up” with him. He stressed that there are no serious health concerns, but that he needs time away from life on the road.

The announcement arrives during a packed touring calendar for the trio, who have quickly grown into one of Ireland’s breakout acts, selling out venues and expanding their festival presence across Europe.

Fitz assured fans that the band will continue performing without him during his break, while he focuses on recovery and stepping back from the pressure of constant travel and live commitments.

The news highlights the growing strain behind the scenes of fast-rising music acts, where sudden success often brings relentless touring demands and limited downtime.

While fans have expressed strong support for the decision, the situation underscores a broader reality in today’s music industry: sustaining momentum at scale can come at a personal cost, even for emerging bands at the peak of their popularity.
