TRUMP calls Iranian response to US peace proposal ‘totally unacceptable’

Tuesday, May 12, 2026- President Donald Trump has sharply dismissed Iran’s latest response to the U.S.-backed peace proposal, calling it “totally unacceptable” as fears of renewed conflict continue to grow across the Middle East.

The rejection comes at a critical moment when global markets, oil prices, and international security remain under pressure due to instability around the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.

According to reports, Iran’s counterproposal demanded an end to sanctions, removal of naval blockades, compensation for war damages, and recognition of its control over key regional waterways. Washington pushed back immediately, with Trump warning that the ceasefire is now “on life support.”

The standoff has already triggered fresh concerns among investors and governments worldwide, especially after oil prices surged following the failed negotiations. Analysts fear that if talks collapse completely, the region could slide into another dangerous phase of military escalation.

The diplomatic breakdown is also exposing deeper divisions over Iran’s nuclear program and regional influence. While mediators continue efforts to revive discussions, both sides appear far apart on major demands.

For global audiences, the stakes are massive: rising fuel costs, economic uncertainty, and the risk of wider international involvement. With tensions intensifying by the day, the world is watching closely to see whether diplomacy can survive or whether another major confrontation is now unavoidable.
