Hundreds march to Israeli embassy in Athens in support of Palestinian resistance

Friday, May 22, 2026-Hundreds of demonstrators marched through central Athens toward the Israeli embassy in a protest expressing support for Palestinian resistance and condemning ongoing military operations in Gaza.

The rally, which brought together student groups, labor unions, and left-wing organizations, moved through heavily policed streets as participants carried banners and chanted slogans calling for an end to the conflict and stronger Greek government pressure on Israel.

The demonstration reflects rising public activism across parts of Europe, where protests related to the Gaza war have continued to draw large crowds and fuel political debate.

In Greece, organizers framed the march as part of a broader call for an immediate ceasefire and increased humanitarian access, while also criticizing Western governments for what they describe as uneven diplomatic responses to the crisis.

Authorities maintained a strong security presence near the embassy to prevent escalation, and the protest concluded without major reported incidents.

However, the scale of participation highlights how the conflict continues to resonate internationally, influencing public opinion and shaping political discourse far beyond the immediate war zone.
