Film star VIJAY sworn in as chief minister of TAMIL NADU

Sunday, May 10, 2026- Indian film superstar C. Joseph Vijay has officially been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking one of the biggest political shake-ups in the state’s modern history.

The leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party took oath during a high-profile ceremony in Chennai after his party emerged as a dominant force in the 2026 state elections. His victory ends decades of political dominance by the DMK and AIADMK parties, signaling a major shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.

Vijay’s transition from cinema icon to political leader has attracted nationwide attention, with supporters celebrating what they describe as a new era of leadership focused on youth, welfare, and governance reforms.

Shortly after taking office, the new administration announced key initiatives including free electricity support for households, a special anti-drug task force, and stronger measures focused on women’s safety. Political analysts say his rapid rise reflects growing voter demand for alternative leadership and frustration with traditional party structures.

The swearing-in ceremony drew massive crowds, celebrities, and senior political figures, underlining Vijay’s influence beyond entertainment. However, expectations are now extremely high as his government faces immediate challenges including unemployment, economic development, infrastructure pressure, and public service reforms.

Observers say the real test begins now, as voters look beyond star power and focus on whether the new administration can deliver meaningful governance and long-term growth for one of India’s most economically important states.
