COMEY seeks to cancel upcoming court appearance in North Carolina in TRUMP threat case

Friday, May 8, 2026- Former FBI Director James Comey is seeking to cancel a scheduled court appearance in North Carolina related to a case involving alleged threats against Donald Trump, according to court filings.

The request comes as legal teams on both sides continue to dispute procedural details and the appropriate venue for parts of the case.

The filing argues that the upcoming appearance may no longer be necessary due to ongoing motions and pretrial considerations, though prosecutors have not yet agreed to the request.

The case itself centers on allegations tied to communications that were interpreted as threatening, placing it under heightened legal and political scrutiny given the involvement of two prominent national figures.

The court has not yet ruled on whether the appearance will be canceled, and proceedings remain active. The development adds another layer of complexity to an already closely watched legal battle, where procedural decisions could shape how and where the case ultimately proceeds.
