Antigua and Barbuda PM Browne wins fourth term promising growth

Sunday, May 3, 2026-Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne has secured a fourth consecutive term in office after a decisive election victory, extending his leadership amid promises of sustained economic growth and national development.

His Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) won a dominant share of parliamentary seats, reinforcing its control and giving Browne a strong mandate to continue his economic agenda focused on tourism recovery, infrastructure investment, and foreign investment inflows.

The election outcome reflects voter preference for continuity at a time when the twin-island nation is navigating external pressures, including tensions over U.S. visa restrictions linked to its citizenship-by-investment program.

Despite these challenges, Browne’s campaign emphasized stability, positioning his government as best placed to manage international relations while sustaining domestic growth and job creation.

With this victory, Browne’s administration is expected to double down on its “growth-first” agenda, prioritizing economic expansion, tourism development, and fiscal resilience.

Supporters see the result as validation of recent performance, while critics continue to raise concerns about governance and external diplomatic risks. Still, the message from the ballot box is clear: voters opted for continuity in uncertain global conditions, betting on experience over change.
