UFC's DANIEL RODRIGUEZ breaks silence after spending past 8 months in Mexican prison: 'It was the most horrible situation'

Tuesday, April 14, 2026-UFC welterweight Daniel Rodriguez has spoken publicly for the first time after spending eight months in a Mexican prison, describing the experience as “the most horrible situation” of his life.

Rodriguez says he was detained following a legal incident in Mexico that quickly escalated, leaving him held in custody while his case moved through the judicial system. The fighter has now returned to the United States after being released.

Rodriguez explained that the ordeal took a severe emotional and physical toll, with limited communication, difficult living conditions, and uncertainty over his legal future.

He said the experience forced him to reflect deeply on his life and career, emphasizing that his focus now is on rebuilding his health, mindset, and professional path back in mixed martial arts. The UFC veteran also expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by him during his detention.

The situation has drawn attention across the MMA community, with fans and fellow fighters reacting to his story of resilience and survival. While details surrounding the legal case remain limited publicly, Rodriguez’s return marks the end of a prolonged and difficult chapter. He has indicated he is ready to resume training and eventually return to competition once fully prepared.
