Turkish prosecutor seeks life sentences for NETANYAHU, 34 others over Gaza aid flotilla attack

Saturday, April 11, 2026-A Turkish prosecutor has sought life sentences for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 34 other senior officials in connection with the 2010 Gaza-bound aid flotilla incident, marking a renewed legal push in a long-running and highly sensitive international case.

The indictment relates to the raid on a humanitarian convoy attempting to reach Gaza, during which Turkish activists were killed after Israeli forces intercepted the ships in international waters.

Prosecutors argue the operation violated international law and constituted a serious breach of humanitarian protections, justifying the pursuit of severe penalties.

The move is largely symbolic, as Israeli officials are not expected to appear in Turkish courts, but it reflects continuing diplomatic strain between Turkey and Israel over Gaza-related conflicts.

The case has resurfaced amid renewed regional tensions and ongoing debates over maritime aid missions to Gaza, keeping the issue politically and legally active more than a decade after the original incident.
