TRUMP threatens Iranian bridges as talks set to continue

Tuesday, April 21, 2026-President Donald Trump has intensified pressure on Iran, warning that key infrastructure including bridges could be targeted even as diplomatic talks are set to continue.

The remarks come at a critical moment, with negotiations being prepared in Pakistan and a fragile ceasefire hanging in the balance.

Trump’s rhetoric reflects a hardline stance: he has suggested that if a deal is not reached, the United States is prepared to escalate militarily, with infrastructure such as bridges, power systems, and transport networks potentially in the crosshairs.

At the same time, his administration is signaling that talks remain on the table, creating a dual-track approach of diplomacy backed by the threat of force.

Iran has pushed back strongly, warning it will not negotiate under pressure and framing the threats as coercive. Officials in Tehran have indicated they may still participate in discussions, but only if conditions shift away from what they describe as “negotiations under threat.”

Despite the aggressive tone, the U.S. has moved to extend the ceasefire to allow more time for negotiations, underscoring the high stakes involved. With both sides sending mixed signals—threats on one hand and diplomacy on the other—the situation remains volatile.

Whether talks lead to a breakthrough or collapse under pressure could determine if the conflict de-escalates or moves toward a broader and more destructive phase.
