President TRUMP’s ceasefire with Iran draws praise from world leaders

Friday, April 10, 2026-World leaders have broadly welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran announced by President Donald Trump, describing it as a moment of relief after weeks of escalating tensions that had raised fears of a wider regional war.

Governments across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia have cautiously praised the agreement while urging both sides to ensure it holds.

European officials, including leaders from Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom, described the truce as a positive and necessary step toward de-escalation, while emphasizing that it must lead to a more durable peace settlement.

Some governments also stressed the importance of securing freedom of navigation in key waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz, which remains central to global energy security.

At the same time, reactions have been mixed, with some political figures warning that the ceasefire remains fragile and could collapse if underlying issues are not addressed.

While the announcement has eased immediate fears of escalation, analysts note that the situation remains unstable, with diplomacy now under pressure to convert a temporary pause into a lasting agreement.
