Pezeshkian urges Iranians to use electricity sparingly

Sunday, April 26, 2026- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued an urgent appeal for citizens to reduce electricity consumption as the country grapples with mounting pressure on its power grid.

The warning comes amid rising temperatures and increased demand, with authorities concerned that excessive usage could trigger widespread outages if immediate action is not taken.

Officials say the strain is being driven by a combination of seasonal demand spikes, infrastructure limitations, and ongoing disruptions linked to the broader energy situation.

Power plants are operating near capacity, and the government is now pushing for conservation measures, including limiting non-essential usage during peak hours and encouraging households and businesses to cut back wherever possible.

The appeal highlights growing energy challenges in Iran, where demand continues to outpace supply during critical periods. Authorities warn that without public cooperation, rolling blackouts could become unavoidable, making conservation not just a recommendation—but a necessity.
