Iran arrested 35 members of alleged 'Zionist spy cell', regime's intelligence ministry claims

Wednesday, April 15, 2026-Iran’s Intelligence Ministry says it has arrested 35 individuals accused of forming a “Zionist-linked spy cell,” in what officials describe as a coordinated counter-espionage operation across multiple provinces.

According to state-linked reports, those detained include alleged members of what authorities called a “separatist network” suspected of ties to Israel’s Mossad and other foreign intelligence services.

Officials claim the group was involved in surveillance activities, recruitment, and planning operations targeting Iranian security personnel and sensitive infrastructure.

The ministry also said the arrests are part of a wider crackdown on what it describes as “enemy-linked networks” operating inside the country amid heightened regional tensions.

Iranian authorities have increasingly announced mass detentions in recent months involving alleged espionage and security-related offenses, often linking suspects to Israel or Western intelligence agencies.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly raised concerns that such cases are often based on broad national security charges and lack transparent legal proceedings, while Iranian officials maintain that the arrests are necessary to prevent infiltration and sabotage operations.
