Thursday, April 30, 2026-At least 29 people have been killed in a brutal attack in north-eastern Nigeria, where gunmen opened fire on a crowd gathered at a local football pitch.
The assault took place in Adamawa state, with witnesses saying the attackers stormed the area and began shooting indiscriminately at young people watching or playing football.
The attack appears to have been prolonged and highly destructive. Residents reported that the gunmen operated for hours, burning homes, places of worship, and vehicles while targeting civilians. Victims were largely youths, including spectators who had gathered for what should have been a routine community event.
