DEXTER LAWRENCE agrees to contract extension with Bengals

Monday, April 20, 2026-The Dexter Lawrence has agreed to a contract extension with the Cincinnati Bengals, capping off a blockbuster move that has quickly reshaped the team’s defense.

The deal, reportedly a one-year extension worth around $28 million, was finalized shortly after his high-profile trade from the New York Giants, where he had spent his entire career to date.

The extension effectively ties Lawrence to Cincinnati through the 2028 season when combined with his existing contract, giving the Bengals both immediate impact and short-term flexibility.

The three-time Pro Bowler is widely seen as one of the league’s most dominant interior defensive linemen, and his arrival comes at a critical time as the Bengals look to rebuild a defense that struggled last season.

The move did not come cheap. Cincinnati gave up the No. 10 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to secure Lawrence, signaling a clear “win-now” mentality from the front office.

For the Giants, the trade opens the door to a rebuild with multiple top draft picks, while for the Bengals, it’s a decisive bet that Lawrence can anchor their defense and help push the team back into playoff contention.
