Iranian Foreign Minister ABBAS ARAGHCHI on "Face the Nation with MARGARET BRENNAN

 

Wednesday, March 18, 2026- Abbas Araghchi appeared on Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan, delivering a firm message on Iran’s stance amid escalating tensions. 

Araghchi emphasized that Iran would not back down under pressure, warning that continued military actions and sanctions could provoke further retaliation across the region.

During the interview, Araghchi defended Iran’s recent actions, framing them as defensive responses to external aggression. 

He also addressed concerns about disruptions to global oil flows, suggesting that instability in key areas like the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of foreign military presence rather than Iranian policy alone. 

His remarks underscored Tehran’s position that regional security cannot be achieved through force.

The appearance comes at a critical moment, as diplomatic efforts struggle to keep pace with rising military tensions. 

Araghchi signaled that while Iran remains open to dialogue, any negotiations would require mutual respect and a reduction in hostilities, leaving the path forward uncertain as the conflict continues to evolve.
