HUBERT DAVIS out as North Carolina men's basketball coach after five seasons

Wednesday, March 25, 2026- The University of North Carolina has announced that Hubert Davis will no longer serve as head coach of its men’s basketball program, ending his five-season tenure. The decision comes after the team struggled to meet performance expectations, despite Davis’ efforts to maintain competitiveness in a highly challenging Atlantic Coast Conference.

During his time as head coach, Davis guided the Tar Heels through multiple tournaments and worked to develop both veteran players and incoming recruits. However, recent seasons saw inconsistent results, prompting the university to seek new leadership to steer the program toward renewed success.

UNC officials have not yet named a successor, but sources indicate a national search is underway, with the aim of stabilizing the team before the upcoming recruiting and postseason cycles. Fans and alumni are watching closely as the university looks to redefine its basketball strategy and return to national prominence.
