CEOs of top airlines demand Congress restore funding to Homeland Security and pay airport workers

Wednesday, March 18, 2026- CEOs of major U.S. airlines are urging Congress to restore funding to the Department of Homeland Security and ensure pay for airport workers, warning that continued funding gaps could disrupt travel nationwide.

Industry leaders say the situation is putting significant strain on airport operations, including security screening and air traffic coordination, at a time when travel demand remains high.

Airline executives stress that without proper funding, essential personnel such as TSA officers and support staff may face delayed pay or reduced staffing levels, increasing the risk of long lines, delays, and potential safety concerns.

They argue that maintaining a stable and fully staffed security system is critical to keeping the aviation network running smoothly.

The call to action highlights growing pressure on lawmakers to act quickly and avoid further disruption.

With millions of passengers relying on air travel, CEOs warn that failure to resolve the issue could have cascading effects across the economy, impacting both domestic and international travel in the coming weeks.
