4 dead, 12 hurt in suspected tornadoes in southwest Michigan

Sunday, March 8, 2026-At least four people have died and twelve others were injured after suspected tornadoes tore through parts of southwest Michigan, leaving widespread destruction in several communities. Emergency officials reported that powerful storms swept across the region overnight, damaging homes, flipping vehicles, and knocking down power lines.

First responders and rescue teams moved quickly into the hardest-hit areas to search for survivors and assist injured residents. Local authorities said several neighborhoods suffered severe structural damage, with debris scattered across roads and homes reduced to rubble. Hospitals in the region are treating victims as emergency shelters open for displaced families.

Weather experts say the storm system remains dangerous and could still bring additional severe weather to nearby areas. Officials are urging residents to stay alert, monitor weather warnings, and avoid damaged zones as recovery and rescue efforts continue.
