Tuesday, February 3, 2026 - British politician Dan Norris has been arrested on suspicion of r@pe, s£xual ass@ult, voyeurism, and upskirting.
Mr Norris, currently the independent MP for North East
Somerset and Hanham, was formerly a member of the Labour Party until he was
suspended in April 2025 after being first arrested by Avon and Somerset Police.
The force first announced that a man in his 60s had been
arrested on suspicion of s£xual offences against a girl, r@pe, child abduction,
and misconduct in a public office, but the force has said it is "no longer
actively investigating any sexual offences against children".
In an update today, officers said: "Following our
enquiries, the man has been further arrested on suspicion of r@pe against a
second woman, sexual assault against a third woman, as well as voyeurism and
upskirting against a number of women."
They added: "All offences are alleged to have occurred
between the 2000s and 2020s.
"Investigations into s£xual offences are sensitive and
complex and, as a result, it can take a significant amount of time for
enquiries to be completed. The man remains on conditional bail.
"We're keeping victims updated on any developments, and
we'll continue to give access to any support they may need."
A Labour Party spokesperson said: "Dan Norris MP was
immediately suspended by the Labour Party upon being informed of his initial
arrest.
"These new allegations are deeply concerning, and any
person found guilty of such abhorrent crimes must face the full force of the
law. We cannot comment further while the police investigation is ongoing."
In a statement issued this afternoon, Mr Norris said:
"I vigorously and entirely deny the serious allegations made against me.
They are untrue. I am challenging them through my legal representatives."
Mr Norris, 65, defeated Jacob Rees-Mogg to win the new seat
of North East Somerset and Hanham in last year's general election.
He first entered Parliament when Tony Blair came to power in
1997 and served as the Wansdyke MP until 2010.
He was an assistant whip under Mr Blair and served as a
junior minister under Gordon Brown.
Mr Norris was also elected West of England mayor in 2021,
but stepped down at last year's May local elections.
