Wednesday, January 14, 2026- A beloved Ohio couple, Dr. Spencer Tepe 37 and his wife Monique Tepe 39, were found shot to death inside their Columbus home on December 30, 2025, in a case that has shocked the community and drawn nationwide attention.
Police discovered their bodies after concerned co‑workers requested a welfare check when Spencer failed to show up for work, an absence they said was out of character. The couple’s two young children, ages 1 and 4, were inside the home unharmed when officers arrived, underscoring how quickly tragedy unfolded in what had been a loving family setting.
Law enforcement officials have since arrested 39‑year‑old vascular surgeon Michael David McKee, Monique’s ex‑husband, charging him with the murders of both Spencer and Monique. McKee was located in Rockford, Illinois, after investigators linked his vehicle to the area near the couple’s home around the time of the killings.
He has waived extradition to Ohio and faces aggravated murder charges that could carry life in prison if convicted. Investigators also released surveillance footage earlier showing a person of interest walking near the home in the early morning hours when the attack is believed to have occurred.
Friends and family remember Spencer and Monique as a devoted couple deeply connected to their community. They were preparing to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary and were described as warm, loving parents who were active in local life. With the investigation ongoing and McKee awaiting trial, authorities continue to gather evidence and seek public tips to build their case and bring clarity to a tragedy that left a family shattered and two young children without their parents.
