Tuesday, January 27, 2026-Grant Udinski, the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator and one of the top candidates for the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching vacancy, has withdrawn his name from consideration.
Udinski had interviewed twice with the Browns as they searched for a successor to Kevin Stefanski but informed the organization he no longer wishes to pursue the role. The 30‑year‑old coach has reportedly secured a new contract with Jacksonville that includes a pay raise and extends his tenure there, while still keeping open the possibility of pursuing the Buffalo Bills’ head coaching opening if that opportunity arises.
Udinski’s withdrawal marks another setback for the Browns, who have already seen multiple top candidates exit or accept other roles, including former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel and Ravens coach Jesse Minter. His decision underscores the challenges Cleveland faces in attracting highly sought-after coaching talent, even among younger offensive minds who have rapidly risen through NFL ranks. Udinski was viewed by many as a rising star in coaching and, had he been hired, would have become the youngest head coach in league history.
With Udinski out of the picture, Cleveland now turns its attention to the remaining candidates, which include defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, Commanders run game coordinator Anthony Lynn, and former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken. The Browns’ search continues amid growing fan frustration and scrutiny over how the franchise is handling the coaching process.
