ZELENSKYY heads to London for more Ukraine peace talks

Tuesday, December 9, 2025 -
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has flown to London for high-stakes talks with European leaders as part of a renewed push for a peace plan to end the war in Ukraine.

On December 8, 2025, he met Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron, and Friedrich Merz at 10 Downing Street to coordinate a joint diplomatic approach alongside a revised U.S.-backed initiative.

The talks focused on security guarantees for Ukraine, long-term funding and defense aid, and a shared European-U.S. response to pressure from Russia.

Zelenskyy emphasized that any ceasefire or agreement must safeguard Ukraine’s territorial integrity, particularly rejecting demands to cede control of the disputed eastern region of Donbas.

European leaders, while pressing for peace, voiced caution about parts of the current U.S. proposal. They argued any deal must ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty is respected, offer credible defense commitments, and avoid concessions that would undermine Kyiv’s position.

The London meetings mark a critical moment as Ukraine and its allies seek unity and leverage ahead of further diplomatic negotiations.
