Thailand vows to keep fighting Cambodia, despite TRUMP's ceasefire claim

Sunday, December 14, 2025 -Thailand has publicly rejected claims of a ceasefire with Cambodia, stating that military operations will continue despite President Donald Trump’s assertion that fighting had stopped. 

Thai officials emphasized that no formal agreement has been reached and that active security threats along the border remain unresolved. The statement signals a clear escalation in rhetoric and underscores the fragility of the situation on the ground.

Government and military leaders in Thailand say national security decisions will not be dictated by outside declarations, stressing that any ceasefire must be confirmed through official diplomatic and military channels. 

Cambodian forces have not issued matching confirmations of a halt in hostilities, reinforcing concerns that conflicting narratives could worsen tensions rather than ease them.

The standoff is heightening regional anxiety and drawing international attention as both sides remain on alert. Analysts warn that miscommunication at this stage could trigger wider instability, while pressure grows for credible mediation and verified negotiations. 

Until formal terms are agreed and publicly confirmed, Thailand insists its operations will continue to protect its interests and territorial integrity.
