SEAN “DIDDY” COMBS lawyers send cease‑and‑desist to Netflix — claiming 50 CENT’s docuseries uses “stolen” footage
Wednesday, December 3, 2025 -Lawyers for Sean 'Diddy' Combs have formally sent a cease‑and‑desist letter to Netflix, demanding the streamer halt release of the upcoming four‑part documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning — a project produced by longtime rival Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson. Their central complaint: the documentary makes use of private footage — including video filmed just days before Combs’s 2024 arrest — that was never authorized for public release.
According to Combs’s legal team, the footage in question was part of a personal documentary archive he began compiling at age 19. They claim Netflix misappropriated this material without permission and that rights to the footage were never transferred to any third party. Their statement described the docuseries as a “shameful hit piece,” accusing the streamer of taking private footage out of context — including sensitive conversations with his lawyers.
In response, Netflix and the documentary’s director, Alexandra Stapleton, have defended the project, asserting that the footage was obtained legally and that they hold the necessary rights. Director Stapleton said the team exhausted efforts to secure participation and comment from Combs or his legal representatives.
