Protesters disrupt federal immigration action in Manhattan

Monday, December 1, 2025 -
Protesters clashed with federal authorities in Manhattan on Nov. 30, 2025, interrupting an immigration enforcement operation.

Demonstrators blocked entrances to federal buildings, chanted slogans, and carried signs opposing detentions and deportations. Law enforcement temporarily suspended parts of the operation, citing safety concerns for both officers and civilians.

Authorities confirmed that while some enforcement actions continued, the protests delayed arrests and processing for several hours.

Police made a few arrests for obstruction and disorderly conduct but emphasized that no serious injuries were reported. Officials stressed the importance of completing immigration proceedings while ensuring public safety.

The disruption has sparked a political debate over immigration enforcement strategies in major cities. Advocates say protests highlight systemic issues, while critics argue such interruptions put law enforcement at risk.

Federal agencies have pledged to continue operations in Manhattan and other metropolitan areas, with additional security measures to prevent future disruptions.
