Drone strike on UN facility in war-torn Sudan leaves six peacekeepers dead

Monday, December 15, 2025 -
A deadly drone strike hit a United Nations facility in Sudan, killing six peacekeepers and wounding several others, officials confirmed.

The attack occurred amid ongoing conflict between rival factions in the country, highlighting the increasing risks faced by international personnel operating in the region. The UN described the incident as “an attack on peace and humanitarian efforts” and called for an immediate investigation.

The strike has intensified concerns over the safety of UN missions in Sudan, where violence has escalated in recent months, leaving civilians and aid workers vulnerable.

The identities and nationalities of the peacekeepers have not been fully disclosed, but the organization emphasized that they were engaged in protecting civilians and supporting humanitarian operations. Emergency response teams have been deployed to provide medical care and secure the facility.

International leaders condemned the strike and urged all parties to respect UN operations and international law. The incident underscores the fragility of peacekeeping efforts in conflict zones and the need for enhanced security measures to protect personnel on the ground.

With tensions running high, the attack may further complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilizing Sudan and delivering humanitarian aid to affected communities.
