TRUMP to freeze migration from ‘Third World Countries’ after D.C. attack

Friday, November 28, 2025
-President Donald J. Trump announced on Thursday that his administration will “permanently pause” migration from all what he described as “Third World Countries,” following a deadly shooting near the White House that killed a member of the National Guard.

Trump did not specify which countries would be affected, nor did he define what he meant by “Third World Countries” or how the pause would be implemented. He said the freeze would apply even to migration cases approved under the previous administration.

He also pledged to end all federal benefits and subsidies for “non-citizens,” denaturalize migrants he considered disruptive, and deport those deemed a public charge, a security risk, or “non-compatible with Western civilization.”

The move comes as authorities investigate the shooting — believed to have been carried out by an Afghan national — and has sparked a sweeping review of asylum cases, green cards, and immigration approvals.

The administration’s statement argues the freeze is necessary to allow “the U.S. system to fully recover.” Yet how the freeze would be enforced and what its legal ramifications might be remain unclear.
